Obituary for William George Strickland

Passed suddenly away at his residence in Harbour Breton on Monday, October 9, 2023, William George Strickland, age 78, of Harbour Breton.

William leaves to mourn his loving family: wife, Helen, married 55 years; daughter, Pennie (Ray) at Paradise; sons, Dennis (Paula) at St. John’s and Dean (Regina) at Paradise; grandchildren, Daniel, Madison, Liam, Luke and Connor; brothers, Samuel Strickland and Reginald Strickland (Sharon), all at Harbour Breton; sister, Marion Colombe (Jim) at Harbour Breton; special buddies, Melvin Pierce (Patsy) and Bob Hynes (Donna), all at Harbour Breton; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.

William was predeceased by his brother, Rod Strickland; sister in law, Phyllis Strickland; nephew, Rick Hynes; parents, Samuel and Frances Strickland; other members of the Strickland and Hynes families.

William was a long time and dedicated member of the Harbour Breton Lions Club being involved for 55 years. He served faithfully on many committees such as the Ambulance and Gold Rush.

Visitations took place at Spencer’s Funeral Home, Harbour Breton on Thursday from 1:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Breton with Father David Joy officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Breton.
