Obituary for Jacob Gordon Simms

Passed peacefully away at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre at Harbour Breton on Thursday, August 3, 2023, Jacob Gordon Simms, age 78 of Harbour Breton.

Jacob leaves to mourn his loving family: daughters, Yvonne Syed at Peterborough, ON and Amy Krell (Tom) at Bobcaygeon, ON; sons, Rick (Neva) at Harbour Breton, Wade (Loretta) at Witless Bay, Greg (Debbie) at Ottawa, ON, Corey (Barbara) at Harbour Breton and David (Martha) at Hermitage; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Meade (James) at Grand Bank, Elizabeth Eavis at Ramea, Mary Dominix (George) at Belleoram and Hazel Hillier (Edward) at Fortune; brothers, Chris Simms at Harbour Breton and Alex Simms (Wanda) at Ottawa; special home care workers, Jane Pierce and Edith Skinner; as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.

Jacob was predeceased by his wife, Blanche; parents, Simeon and Gertrude Simms; brothers, Chesley Simms, Thomas Simms and Garfield Simms; and other family members.

Visitation took place at Spencer’s Funeral Home at Harbour Breton on Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm both days.

Funeral Service took place on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 2:00pm at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church at Harbour Breton with Rev. Jonathan Durdle officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Breton.
