Obituary for Geraldine Emma Smith (Harris)

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Geraldine Emma Smith (Harris).

Geraldine married the love of her life, Claude Smith, on January 2nd, 1957. Together they had 3 children who she loved dearly. She was a Soldier of the Salvation Army Seal Cove, Fortune Bay Corps, and later, of the Salvation Army Point Leamington Corps and was faithful to the activities. She loved to hum and sing every morning. Geraldine had a passion for the outdoors including berry picking, gardening, and planting flowers. She loved to go into the woods with Claude to get a load of firewood. She had a love for her family especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was kind and patient.

Geraldine leaves to mourn three daughters; Thelma (Wilfred), Joann (Rex), and Loretta (Peter). Also six grandchildren; Robbie, Jenita, Jeremy, Jessica, Taylor and Morgan, as well as nine great grandchildren. Geraldine also leaves to mourn her special sister, Winnie Loveless (Carl) and her brother, Andrew Harris (Audrey), her brother-in-law, Hubert Smith and sister-in-law, Grace Smith, her two support workers, Diane Cooper and Debbie Peddle, as well as a large circle of family and friends.


She is predeceased by her husband, Claude Smith, her grandson, Kerry Jarvis, her sister, Effie Langdon (brother-in-law, Ralph) and her sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Calvin Loveless.

Viewings were held at the Salvation Army, Seal Cove, Fortune Bay Corps on Monday, February 27th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Celebration of life was held on Tuesday, February 28 at 1 pm with officiating officers, Majors Richard and Trudy Mouland. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Seal Cove.

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Seal Cove, Fortune Bay Corps.
