Passed peacefully away at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Care Centre in Harbour Breton on Saturday, February 4, 2023, with her loving family by her side, Mabel Jane Skinner (Simms), of Harbour Breton, at the age of 90 years.

Mabel leaves to mourn her loving family: her four daughters, Audrey and Luke Jarvis at Holyrood, Newfoundland, Gladys and Reg Griffin at Harbour Breton, Newfoundland, Joyce and Larry McCarthy at Benoit’s Cove, Newfoundland and Lisa and Jim Smith at Paradise, Newfoundland; her three sons, Ivan and Geraldine Skinner, Hubert and Edwina Skinner, and her very special son, Ben, with whom she resided for his entire life, all at Harbour Breton; her 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; her home care workers, Donna Strowbridge and Sonya Harris (with thanks for your dedication and care); plus a large circle of other family and friends.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Clayton A. Skinner; her parents, Effie and Fredrick Simms; son-in-law; Vernon Day; and her two brothers, Jack and Gordon Simms.

Visitation was held at Spencer's Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 7 and Wednesday, February 8 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm both days. Family Service was held at 7:00pm on Wednesday.

Funeral Service took place at 10:00am on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church with Rev. Bruce Vallis officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Breton.
