Obituary for Lila Elizabeth Bullen

Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 30th, 2022 in her 81styear, Lila Elizabeth Bullen formerly of Harbour Breton, NL. Predeceased by her parents George and Hilda Barnes and Parents in Law Theodore and Rebecca Bullen, along with many other family members.

Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories, her husband of 61 years, Merrill Bullen Sr. Daughters, Annette Bullen-Dumaresque (Brandon), the Late Eileen Humphries (special Son in Law Craig), Kimberley Bullen (Scott) and son Merrill Bullen Jr. (Erica). Her Grandchildren who were the light of her life, Robyn Lakey (Scottie), Rebecca Patey (Mike), Lila and Emma Bullen. Great Grandchildren Charlotte and Norah Powers Sister-in-Law, Jane Winsor.

Born in Harbour Breton in 1941, Lila was the only child of George and Hilda Barnes. At the age of 14, Lila met the love of her life. Little did she know, Merrill would bring her a fulfilling life including 3 beautiful daughters and 1 treasured son. Lila dedicated her life to raising her children all the while running the family business for over 17 years. Throughout her life, Lila was known to be strong, hardworking, fierce, and spirited, never shying away from speaking her mind! Over the next several years, Lila became an adoring Grandmother of 4 Grand Daughters and 2 Great Grand Daughters. Lila and Merrill continued their life together hand in hand, living each day to the fullest through commitment, kindness, acceptance, and love.

Visitation to take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home located at 73 Commonwealth Ave. Mt. Pearl, NL on Wednesday, January 4th from 12:00-2:00pm with service to follow beginning at 2:00pm. No flowers by request, donations may be made in her memory to the Eastern Health Kidney Care Centre, Mt. Pearl Square.
