It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Bertha Strickland announces her passing at her residence at Harbour Breton on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, age 71 years, of Harbour Breton.

Phyllis leaves to mourn her loving family: husband, Samuel, of 54 years married; daughters, Rhonda (Calvin Snook) at Foxtrap, CBS and Diane (Todd Jackman) at Harbour Breton; son, Duanne (Jackie) at St. Phillips-Portugal Cove; grandchildren, Matthew Snook (Maria) at Mount Pearl, Joshua Strickland (Katherine) at Paradise, Jayde Strickland (Luke) at Paradise, Kellie Snook (Aaron) at Foxtrap and Taylor Jackman (Rebecca) at St. John’s; special great granddaughter, Callie Snook; sisters, Bella Oke and Emma Bullen (George) both at Harbour Breton; brothers, Bruce Bungay (Charlotte) at Wreck Cove and Murray Bungay (Marilyn) at Harbour Breton; her caregivers, Cheryl Thornhill and Barbara Stoodley; best friends, Theresa Mary Smith and Millie Skinner, all at Harbour Breton; as well as a circle of other in laws, relatives and friends.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Jane Bungay; parents in law, Samuel and Frances Strickland; sister, Irene Hynes; brothers in law, Sandy Hynes, John Oke and Roderick Strickland; nephew, Rick Hynes.

Visitation took place at Sam’s and Phyllis’ home on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Funeral Service took place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Joy officiating. Inurnment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Breton.

Donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the local Cancer Support Group.
