It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Marie Kendell announces her passing at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Center in Harbour Breton on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the age of 66.

Betty was known for being a loving, caring mother. Just as her son, Shane was getting ready to head out on his own, her daughter, Sarah was born, allowing her to be a Mom all over again. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going for walks and could often be seen walking up or down the road with one or two of her dogs in tow, chatting with everyone she met along the way. She loved being social - visiting family and friends, attending community events, and talking on the phone. Betty would put the people she cared about ahead of herself, always being kind and thoughtful. In turn, she received that same love and kindness from her husband, Dean, who cared for her at home for many years until her passing. Her generous spirit, great sense of humour, and strength of character will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Betty leaves to mourn her loving family: husband, Dean; son, Shane (Stacey); daughter, Sarah (James); brothers, Don (Margaret), Calvin (Mary), Gordon (Philomena) and Ernest (Deenie); sisters, Eileen, Barbara, Faye (Javis) and Gloria (Eugene); brothers-in-law, Edison, Andy (Kristen), Darren (Glenda) and Marvin (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Marjorie, Della, Effie (Alfred), Mary (Enos), Darlene (Dana) and Diana (Victor); caregiver, Rose; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Myra Cribb; birth parents, Gord and Matilda Sutton; parents-in-law, Edgar and Maude Kendell; and sister, Ada.

Cremation has taken place.

Due to restrictions on gatherings and travel, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
